The signature Chanel logo: The
-as demonstrated on ebay-on the outside of
the bag are another element to heavily scrutinize for authentication purposes. However,
this is a detail that is normally done correctly by the better counterfeiters, as you
will only witness the incorrect overlapping C pattern on some of the worst fakes.
Nevertheless, it is still something to take note of when considering a Chanel handbag.
The basic, rule of thumb, standard for Chanel interlocking C’s in this:
The right Chanel C should always overlap
the left Chanel C at the top of the double C pattern.
Subsequently, at the bottom of the Chanel double C pattern,
the left Chanel C should always overlap the right Chanel C.

Illustration of interlocking double C pattern: The interlocking double C pattern
should conform to this structure regardless of material or placement of the logo,
i.e. metal logo, fabric logo, etching, emboss, etc will all adhere to this
pattern the majority of the time.
Note: However, as always with designer handbags there are always a few
exceptions the rules. Pertaining to the Chanel interlocking C’s in
particular, there are some exceptions to the above stated rule on a
minority of limited pieces.
Some other details pertaining to the interlocking Chanel C’s and screws.
Chanel gold plated C pattern C’s are normally etched with a gold symbol.
Screws on the back of the closure mechanism that run north to south, and Chanel and Paris etchings running east to west will usually coincide with a CC closure stamp on the top left of the Chanel C pattern.
However if the reverse is true, meaning if the CC closure stamp is stamped
on the right Chanel C, then the screws may now run east to west, and the Chanel & Paris stamp will run north & south.

Note: On rare occasions the gold plating CC mark may be on the bottom C.
Chanel quilting patterns: Common to most top tier designers is
symmetry within pattern. Every top designers from Gucci to Louis, take pride in there
signature patterns. It is what separates the great from the good,
and more often than not, the real from the fake. That said, the
-as demonstrated on ebay-should properly align where adjacent sections
of the handbag meet. Meaning that the seams
should line up even on parts of the bag that are not fixed entirely to
the handbag, like a purse flap. However, when determining alignment in a
picture it can sometimes become a daunting task, because much of the
observed alignment hinges upon the angle the picture was taken. If a model in the
picture has the bag strung over her shoulder, or if the seller is holding the bag in
their hand, these things could also throw off the alignment of the Chanel seams.
Another factor that may throw off the seam alignment in the picture
(or in person,) is if the handbag has paper or personal belongings inside the bag.
Sellers often stuff their handbags to give them a fuller, larger look. And a stuffed
handbag may re-align the stitching pattern, creating a false indicator or red flag.
But regardless, the differing sections of the Chanel handbag, when in direct
contact with
one another, should at the very least come close to a
linear alignment.
Below are images of authentic Chanel quilting patterns:
Note: The pattern's stitch lines flow together, there is no irregularity. Where the flap
meets the bag, the seam lines of both sections (flap and body) flow seamlessly together
with no break or split.

Chanel interior lining is another factor to scrutinize:
The Chanel sandy Cambon (flap) should have a black Chanel lining.

-as seen on ebay.
The Chanel beige and pink/fuchsia bowlers, pochettes,
reporters buckets will carry a black Chanel lining.
Authentic Chanel brown and green bowlers, buckets, reporters and
pochettes will carry a tangerine Chanel lining.
Lining inside the Chanel black and white Reporters, Cambon buckets
and pochettes will not carry a purple/pinkish interior.
Chanel white camera bags will carry a twin eggshell/white lining.
The authentic pinkish Chanel camera bags will be lined with a twin pink Chanel interior.
