This
guide should help illustrate some of the
specific details of Prada sunglasses, and should be used in conjunction with the main
how to spot fake sunglasses tutorial, as most of the tips for identifying
fake designer sunglasses are
universal. These specific Prada details can be used to reinforce the fundemental phony
designer eyewear spotting
tips.
The (above) have a distinct feature that all Prada products share:
the font.
More specifically, the letter "R" in Prada. We also illustrate this in our
guide on how to spot fake Prada handbags. [The images in the handbag
guide have a slightly better magnification. You may be able to get a better look at this Prada
font feature]. The important font detail
concerns the squiggle in the bottom right leg of the R. But unlike the
Giorgio Armani [R] font,
the Prada "R" is less like a squiggle and more like a crescent cut out directly beneath the
loop of the R. It is subtle, but something that can be detected rather quickly and
through pictures. Many fake Prada sunglasses miss this feature, or in their attempt to copy it, they
get it incorrect. Either way, always inspect the R in the Prada font for the crescent, curved indention
in the leg of the R.
The image of the real Prada sunglasses (left) displays the sunglasses information. One all designer
sunglasses, the model, color and dimensions should be located on one of the
inner temple arms. This is important because the details that are listed on the arm must always
match the sunglasses. Many fake sunglasses have incorrect information stamped into the
temple arm. Also many of the counterfeit Prada glasses have the format incorrect. However,
formats are subject to change, and this can be an unreliable method of detecting
a counterfeit signature. That
being said, the information should always match the glasses, color, model, etc. Checking
this info against the actual glasses is a reliable means of detecting phony eyewear.
The details (above) read: SPR 68H 68[]14 1BC-6S1 120 3N. The information
breaks down like this (below):
SPR = [S]Possibly season or order of year | [PR] Prada
68H = Model
68[]14 ... 120 = These are the dimensions. In this example, the three measurements are broken up.
(in mm) 68 = distance across lenses | 14 = nose bridge | 120 temple arm length. This information is
useful when you need to know the size of the sunglasses when shopping online. Many online sellers will
have a picture of this temple info in their listing. If they do, there is no need to waste your
time emailing them for
the size of the glasses. You can quickly check it out this way.
1BC6S1 = color code. This number is located between the dimension numbers.
This is an example of an authentic Prada sunglasses package.
The image (left) shows
most of the things that should come with authentic Prada sunglasses. However, a pair of Prada
sunglasses that does not have all of these components
doesn't mean that they are fake. Many times
when buying online at discounts, some of the
things will be missing. Generally, the
dustloth and case will accompany most sunglasses. The box, authenticity card, and care book may not.
However, whatever does come with the Prada sunglasses should have the same "R" font that as seen
stamped on the glasses. All the places that Prada is stamped, etched etc, should all have the same font style with
no variance. List of complete Prada sunglasses package:
