It is preferable when attempting to scrutinize the hologram sticker in greater detail to do so with adequate lighting:
Open the handbag and scrutinize the lower left corner.
The hologram sticker is placed directly on the leather lining for reissues, classic flaps or older timeless clutch and an overwhelming majority of the leather lined handbags.
The overwhelming majority of fabric lined authentic Chanel handbags will have the hologram sticker stuck in the bottom left corner on a leather cut out.
Also, search within the interior compartments of the Chanel handbag. Some authentic Chanel handbags do stick the hologram sticker within it's interior pockets. The pockets containing a Chanel sticker will normally be fastened with a zipper closure.

Note: Do not flip out immediately if you are unable to locate the Chanel hologram sticker anywhere inside the handbag. There is a chance that, due to excessive wear and tear, that the sticker may have worn off or has even been separated or fallen out (lost), from the handbag. When dealing with vintage Chanel this can become more common. However a hologram sticker falling out is not an exclusive symptom to vintage Chanel. There are times when a modestly new Chanel handbag may have an unusually worn hologram sticker. This is because what the owner of the bag does with the handbag is not a universal constant. Meaning that some women may treat their Chanel handbag like a trophy, but others might use it as carry-on luggage, stuffing it full of their bathroom essentials on the way to south beach. The former is often times the norm, but the latter is a possibility too.

Note: To make things slightly confusing concerning the number sequences of the early Chanel models, Chanel decided to omit the number zero from their earliest of serial numbers printed on the hologram stickers. However, the authenticity card associated with the early handbags did carry the number zero in the sequence. So what you end up with concerning these vintage handbags is, a Chanel hologram sticker with six digits (minus the 0), and a Chanel authenticity card with a proper seven digit sequence (including the zero). It was the early Chanel series 0 hologram sticker that included this missing zero feature, but the �missing zero� also encompassed the Chanel series 1 bags, and stretched deep into the Chanel 2 series.

Parameters regarding the 0 (From not slashed to slashed):

0 Chanel series: Not a slashed 0.

1 Chanel series: Not a slashed 0.

2 Chanel series: Not a slashed 0, until 27***** [Chanel sub series].

3 Chanel series: [cite needed].

4 Chanel series: [cite needed].

5 Chanel series (early): Not a slashed 0 for the early Chanel 5 sub series [50***** to 51*****].

5 Chanel series [mid-series]: There is no slashed 0 in the middle of the Chanel 5 sub series [52***** to 56*****].

5 Chanel series [late]: Slashed 0. However, it is not until the 57***** Chanel sub series when the hologram sticker was modified to the current Chanel hologram (slashed 0) sticker structure, (image below).

6 Chanel series: Slashed 0.

Image of "8" series: This is an example of the gold flakes or specks that should cover the sticker of an authentic Chanel hologram sticker. However it is also important to note that the gold flecks can wear off in time, due to excessive wear and tear. This picture also demonstrates the CHANELCHANELCHANEL logo located on the right side of the serial number. Also, the correct criss-cross slices in the secondary white sticker are also very clear. Also note the dark vertical line to the left of the sticker.
