Top tier designers, remaining consistent with every other detail, always use the highest quality zippers available on the world market. This means durable, sleek and efficient. And Chanel is no different. They have repeatedly used very specific zippers, however, with slight variances throughout their history.

Many of Chanel�s older (vintage) handbags have specific markings (that differ to a varying degree), etched into the authentic Chanel's frontal zipper mechanism (the part controlling the zipper's teeth):

[YKK is commonly known for it�s implication on Coach handbags. It was once a great tell for spotting a fake handbag, but naturally the counterfeiters adapted, and some have counterfeited the YKK zippers as well. Albeit much of the time they prove to be poor copies, conversely some of the really good counterfeiters have used authentic YKK zippers, as well as Lampo zippers in their fake bags].
