Spotting the Fake LV Keepall Details

Counterfeit Louis Vuitton Keepall Fonts and Hardware

In this guide we will be looking primarily at some Keepall details on high quality fake handbags made in Japan. These fakes are some of the best, as they will often utilize authentic hardware on their imitations, or use chemicals to alter the fake hardware in such a way that it displays the matte/Louis Vuitton quality finish, or the leathers can be treated to mirror real LV leathers, and the monogram patterns are generally correctly symmetric. However, despite these quality Japanese fakes, there will always be areas to on the handbag where you can identify clues. (We will be applying our Lotus test on some of the label fonts to detect these errors).

Below are two fake Keepall Labels:

A):

1 + 2): In image (A), columns (1) and (2) represent the width of the L and the width of the O, (column 1 = L, column 2 = O). If you are familiar with our Lotus test, you will know that contemporary Louis Vuitton heat stamp fonts will have the letter O in Louis about twice the width of the L in Louis. In image (A), we can clearly see that the L and the O are about the same width, (column 2 is slightly wider than 1, but not close to 2x). This is inconsistent with the majority of Louis Vuitton 21st century fonts.
3): The number three line represents where the center point of the Louis Vuitton heat stamp font should generally be. The center point is usually directly between the V and the U in Vuitton. To test this you can map a line, (as in line 3) directly between the V and the O, and this line should cut the trademark symbol(R) in half. But what we see in image (A) is that the trademark symbol is cut too close to the right edge. From looking at the font, the symbol appears to be centered within the logo, so the problem is not with the (R), but in this case with the width of the V. The V in Vuitton is too wide and therefore when you divide the V and the U we end up with what appears to be an off-center trademark symbol.
4): The four line simply illustrates a common universal handbag error. The entire stamp itself is slightly asymmetric within the leather backing. This can be seen by looking at the 4 line directly under the letter m in made, and the letter e in France. Here you can see that the entire font starts to lift up off its flat horizon line (indicated by the yellow line) as it moves further to the right.

B): Image (B) is another example of an incorrect font. Here we can see that the L is about the same width as the O, as well as other problems which can be easily identified.

Below are fake Keepall harware locks and snaps:

I): Image (I) displays a phony Louis Vuitton Lock on a Keepall travel bag. Notice the slight discoloration of the hardware finish. This is an indication that special chemical properties were applied to the metal to give it a matte/aged Louis Vuitton finish. And if not chemical applications, then simply lower quality metal. Always check out the hardware for inconsistent properties like this.
II): Image (II) is of a rivet or snap hardware piece on a counterfeit Keepall made in Japan. Here the hardware looks almost mirror-like. This is another detail inconsistent with Louis Vuitton. A quick comparison to an authentic hardware piece would easily illustrate these error details.
