In this area of the Damier section we will be taking a look at the hardware associated with the handbag: The zippers, locking mechanism, key, clamps etc, focusing specifically on four points that are generally overlooked. These points should highlight some of the hidden detail associated with Louis Vuitton. In this case, we are mainly focusing on the quality of the hardware and the stamp and etchings on the hardware.

Note:The image (left) illustrates the quality of the stamp impression. The Louis Vuitton logo is clear and crisp, with the ™ symbol centered between the left prong of the U and V in Vuitton. Also note the placement of the rivot at the top of the image above the N in Vuitton.

The detail illustrated below pertains to the image (above), taking a look at the ridges in the locking mechanism.

Damier gold clamp locking ridges:

Note: This is one of the often overlooked, (but highly important) quality details. In the image (left), we are highlighting the ridges in the locking mechanism of the gold Louis Vuitton clamps. What we find are high quality locking ridges, whereas we can identify at least three. Many fake locking mechanisms may not have this quality work. On some fake Keepall bags, it is possible that there may even be little or no ridging at all.

In this next section, we will be looking at the large gold zippers on the Damier Keepall bags.

Image (below) of Damier gold zipper head:

Note: The image (left) is of the point, or head of the large Damier gold zipper. Notice the number [8] in the center of the piece. This is a good quality stamp impression that is centered within the hardware. [This number most likely refers to the size of the zipper.] Therefore you should expect to see the same identification number on the same size zipper on the Damier Keepall bags.

In this final section concerning Damier hardware, we will be taking a look at a small detail etched on the Damier Keepall padlock.

Image (below) of authentic Damier Keepall padlock etching:

Note: The image (left) displays an etching marked "317". This is another tiny detail often overlooked when purchasing pre-owned Louis Vuitton Damier Keepall handbags. Also note the aged look of the brass padlock. It does not have a polished look like the gold clamping mechanism mentioned earlier. Many fake handbags do not display quality handbag matte finish. This is however, commonly found on high-end-authentic luxury designer handbags.
